The health and temperament of our pups are our #1 priorities. All are either service dogs or therapy dogs. Only black and yellow. There are no chocolate in our bloodlines. We have three breeding girls and one breeding boy all coming from Champion bloodlines.
Our dogs have had health evaluations by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) to track and reduce the incidence of genetic diseases in dogs, including hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, heart disease, eye conditions, and patellar luxation.
Their intestinal biome has been carefully created and should provide a healthy bowel with a variety of food types and protein sources. Kefir, yogurt, applesauce and pumpkin are all staples of their diet. They have been raised with the best quality ingredients and most wholesome products. This includes our own farm raised beef, pheasant, quail, chicken and eggs. Kefir and yogurt are in each meal. They eat raw (bones especially!), cooked (no bones!) and processed as canned and kibble, but it has been a slurry. They’ve eaten raw meat and bones from venison, elk and bison.
Occasionally adults are available. All breeding dogs have AKC titles of some sort. CGC, Trick, Hunt, Rally Obedience, Fetch, etc. Calm, smart, biddable dogs that are raised in our home.
We train using gentle science backed techniques for hunting, service and therapy work. We follow the puppy raising protocol of Puppy Culture and temperament test all puppies before being placed. We only have one litter every few years, so get on the waitlist.
Potty training is coming along nicely, but we still have a long way to go. Each pup will be moving along at their own pace and some will have figured it out better than others by the time they go home. They will have had practice with a doggie door. Although we will send them home with a pee pad, please don’t continue to use them as they confuse the pup as to whether they are supposed to potty inside or outside.
They will have the communication trinity down so please plan to go over that when you get your pup. They will know what a clicker means and that manding (asking for help through a clear sit) on their part will be heard. They will have met old people, infants, people with canes and wheel chairs, toddlers and people of color. They’ve lived in our home so they have heard the vacuum, the handymen every weekend, cleaners come through, and kitchen sounds like blenders and pots and pans.
They will be introduced to a crate and a leash. And they will be able to walk nicely by your side. They will sit for petting without being asked and will come when you call them. If you continue to set your pup up for success by rewarding these basic behaviors we have started, you will have a well behaved puppy long before most people have even started training.
When your pup goes home: They will be microchipped and vaccinated with DHPP.
They will go home with:
AKC packet with paperwork for Limited Registration
Contract, Health Guarantee and supportive documents
Bedding from the whelping box with Mom scent
3 cans of canned food
8-10 lbs of dry kibble
Poop bags
Personal wipes
Potty pad (for emergency in transit moments)
A few toys and chewies
A clicker
Canvas Tote Bag to hold it all
They haven’t experienced it yet, but they will have played in the Colorado River, been in a car, played with sweet adult dogs, had field trips, worked some agility equipment, had quiet alone time in their crate with the door closed and met a plethora of other people and animals doing human and animal activities.
