Welcome to River Quest Ranch
River Quest Ranch Staff, Friends and Animals.
Welcome to River Quest Ranch where Heritage, Heart, and Harmony Come Together.

At River Quest Ranch, we celebrate the connection between people, animals, and the land. Nestled along the Colorado River at the base of the Flat Top Mountains, our farm is home to a vibrant collection of heritage livestock — from our majestic Scottish Highland cattle to our charming Sebastopol geese, friendly Nigerian Dwarf goats, and loyal AKC English Labradors.

Every animal here is raised with care, purpose, and respect. Whether it’s the rich, marbled flavor of our 100% grass-fed Highland beef, the warmth of a Labrador puppy raised for companionship or therapy, or the laughter sparked during a school or senior center visit, our mission is to bring joy, education, and ethical farming together.

We proudly follow sustainable and humane practices, keeping our herds small so each animal receives hands-on attention and lives a healthy, stress-free life. Our cattle graze naturally, our birds roam freely, and our animals are trained using positive, cooperative methods that keep them confident and curious.

River Quest Ranch isn’t just a farm — it’s a living classroom, a therapy resource, and a gathering place for people who believe in kindness, connection, and quality. From the pasture to the plate — and from the barn to the community — we invite you to share in our passion for ethical agriculture, rare breeds, and the timeless bond between humans and animals.

AKC English Labradors
At our small, home-based breeding program, our goal is simple: to raise healthy, well-tempered AKC English Labradors that make exceptional companions and family members.

Our dogs are family, living and growing right alongside us in the comfort of our home and on our farm. Every pup is raised with care, intention, and respect for the remarkable breed that the Labrador Retriever has always been known to be.

Terena Thomas with Her Highland Cattle
Highland Cattle
Decades ago we began cultivating a small but quality fold of grass-fed Scottish Highland Cows. At first we thought they were just amazing to look at but have since discovered these were actually raised for Royalty consumption. They are a very ancient breed and are known for their hardiness in their rugged native Scottish Highlands with high rainfall and strong winds. They are affectionately referred to as "Hairy Coos" and a group of Scottish Highlanders is known as a fold, not a herd.

Huacaya Alpacas Touching Noses
Haucaya Alpaca
At River Quest Ranch, our Huacaya alpacas are as much a part of the landscape as the mountains and river that surround them. With their soft, teddy bear–like fleece and curious, gentle eyes, these remarkable animals bring a sense of calm and quiet beauty to the farm.

Originating from the high plateaus of the Andes Mountains, the Huacaya (pronounced wah-KAI-yah) has been cherished for centuries by the Quechua people of Peru, Bolivia, and Chile.

Two Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats in Flowers
Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats
Nigerian Dwarf goats may be miniature in size, but they bring full-sized charm and productivity to the farm. Originating from West Africa, this breed was developed for both companionship and rich, high-butterfat milk. Standing only 17–23 inches tall, they’re easy to handle, gentle on fencing, and full of personality.

Sebastopol Goose Snoozing
Sebastopol Geese
The Sebastopol originated along the Black Sea near the city of Sebastopol (in modern-day Ukraine). They were first exported through European trade routes in the mid-1800s and became prized in England and Ireland as “frizzled” or “curly-feathered” geese. Their feathering — a natural mutation — was carefully refined by breeders until the elegant, ruffled bird we know today emerged.

Two Conturnix Quails Together
Coturnix Quails
Our Coturnix Quails are friendly and curious! Their eggs are supposedly more nutritious than a chicken's and are easier for some people with egg sensitivities as their's are missing some of the amino acids found in the whites of most poultry eggs. They are high in minerals and have more yolk to white proportionately. Hard boiled they are second to none - devil them and you will be the talk of your neighborhood or pot luck.
